Green Green Green

We LOVE Green Smoothies.

In fact, we have them every morning and I don’t feel quite right until i’ve downed one.

I just love the feeling of clean energy that a good green smoothie can give and the knowing that you’ve already downed a good dose of greens before 8am ! Satisfaction right there.

Because smoothies are so easy to digest, they give us quick energy without weighing us down. This is really important in the morning as our bodies are still cleansing from the night before – we’re breaking a fast after all.

I’ll often get a bit hungry about 2 hours later, so this is when i’ll eat my porridge or a light snack.

So with that, here’s an (estimate) recipe for my daily green smoothie for 2…


2 ripe bananas

1 large handful leafy greens (spinach, kale etc)

1 – 2 sticks celery

1 – 2 little trees of raw broccoli (optional)

1 – 2 large cups cold water (will sometimes use unsweetened almond/coconut milk/coconut water here too)

1 tbsp ground flax seeds

1 tsp chia seeds

1 tsp raw cacao powder

1 tsp raw maca powder

1 tsp chlorella powder / spirulina powder

A squeeze of fresh lemon (optional)

How to:

Combine all ingredients in a high speed blender and blend until smooth – drink in a tall glass or jar.

I most OFTEN make this the night before so it’s all ready to go in the morning, plus it’s then had time to CHILL in the fridge.
