It’s been said time and time again that attaining a morning ritual or taking solo time before the pressures of the day begin, can truly help success, productivity and happiness.
Call us nosy, but we’ve always been curious about how other people spend their mornings before they arrive in the public eye, polished for their day.
We wonder, what did they eat for breakfast? Did they meditate? Did they stretch? Did they hit the snooze button? Did they only need to worry about themselves or a family…? So many questions!
Follow along as we step into the mornings of a wide range of successful ladies from all over and to uncover what habits put the spring in their morning step..
This week belongs to Stephanie Duvander, one half of the brains behind the exciting new drinks company Ārepa.
Ārepa is a truly exciting product (functional drink) that Stephanie & her business partner launched in October 2016. Ārepa is a functional brain drink, aimed at providing mental clarity.
Tell us, what does your morning look like as you roll out of bed…
Being active is a key part of my lifestyle so I normally hit the gym in the morning for a spin or arena class or go for a run. In addition to working on Ārepa I also do contract work which means that time is precious! I subscribe to Harvard Business review and have a habit (probably bad) of scouring the updates as soon as I wake, then saving the articles for later. Almost always I am thinking of the Ārepa brand and how to implement learnings to our business. Being a small team means there are always plenty of things on my ‘to do list’.
What’s the first thing you drink?
Boring, but warm water, lemon and ginger. Then a mid morning Arepa of course! This helps me prepare and focus for tasks ahead.
What’s the first thing you eat?
Either Vogels toast or the latest healthy sugar-free muesli. I am always on the hunt for a super healthy cereal but haven’t quite got the energy or inclination to make my own. Pity as they are so expensive!
What’s your favourite way to move your body in the morning?
With a workout – either a spin class or arena at the gym, or a run outdoors.
How important is stillness or quiet space first thing?
This is very important but still something that I need to do more of. I attended a transcendental meditation course a few years ago and find that it really helps especially in stressful times.
Describe your ultimate morning. No kids, no obligations…?
A late sleep in, surrounded by favourite reads such as HBR, Idealog, Juno then a dog walk and brunch. An ideal morning would be having time to research and follow social posts so I can keep abreast of what other brands are doing in the drinks industry.
Please share your favourite breakfast recipe…what’s your go-to?
A go to would be a Rice Milk Smoothie made with banana, blueberries, yoghurt and topped with almonds. Accompanied by a good strong coffee of course.
