It’s been said time and time again that attaining a morning ritual or taking solo time before the pressures of the day begin, can truly help success, productivity and happiness.
Call us nosy, but we’ve always been curious about how other people spend their mornings before they arrive in the public eye, polished for their day.
We wonder, what did they eat for breakfast? Did they meditate? Did they stretch? Did they hit the snooze button? Did they only need to worry about themselves or a family…? So many curious questions!
Follow along as we step into the mornings of a wide range of successful ladies from all over and to uncover what habits put the spring in their morning step…
This week we chat to the gorgeous Hannah Jensen and step inside her morning shoes.

What does your morning look like as you roll out of bed…?
I LOVE mornings!! I am totally a morning person. I love the magic feeling of a new day, first light, fresh start and new beginnings. As the summer rays are warming up I’m waking about 5.30am. I usually wake prior to my alarm and enjoy some quiet time before getting out of bed to do a layer of paint and then move the body.
What’s the first thing you drink?
First thing I have is fresh lemon in water with a Lypo-Spheric Vitamin C.
What’s the first thing you eat?
Before I head out the door to move I have a ‘nutritional mini meal’ named by my amazing naturopath Twyla Watson, of soaked chia with coconut & almond milk. I am an energetic person so soothing my adrenals with something in my belly sure helps. Then on return I have a big smoothie bowl!
What’s your favourite way to move your body in the morning?
I absolutely love yoga, it chills me out during a busy week and I love supporting my local studios. I mix it up between EastWest, True, Studio Red and Urban Ashram. But I also adore a beautiful long walk on a stunning morning with great music and fresh air in the lungs to start the day.
How important is stillness or quiet space first thing?
My stillness comes when I first wake in the morning. I sleep on my back so I pull my knees up into Baddha Konasana and place my hands on my belly and heart; starting with some belly breathing, I ground my goals for the day.
Describe your ultimate morning. No obligations…?
Ultimate I wake at the beach! I’m up at Langs at our family beach home and it’s early and still. I slide on a wetsuit and take the paddle board down to the ocean and glide out across the bay … and then I see them … a huge pod of dolphins sprinting towards me! I am ecstatic and paddle my heart out to greet them. I spend the next hour swimming and paddling up and down the coast with them before we depart. I head back up to the house for a hot outdoor shower and a big smoothie bowl looking out across the water with a very happy heart. It’s my ultimate and I am so lucky it has happened a few times already 🙂 So grateful to Mother Nature, living in Aotearoa and this incredible World.
Please share your favourite breakfast recipe…what’s your go-to?
Not sure if I would call this a recipe but depending on what is in season and what is in the fridge I add other fruit to change it up…
Super Simple Breakfast Bowl
Blend – 1 Frozen banana, blueberries, kale and spinach from the garden, coconut & almond milk and a scoop of nuzest protein powder (I usually do half natural and half vanilla flavour). Once blended place in a bowl and sprinkle muesli over. The best is when you can consume it outside in the sunshine! I love chilling in my backyard under the palms pretending I’m in Bali.
