We wonder, what did they eat for breakfast? Did they meditate? Did they stretch? Did they hit snooze? Did they have to only worry about themselves or a family…? So many curious questions!

Tell us, what does your morning look like as you roll out of bed…
I’ve got in the habit of sleeping with my curtains open so I can wake up with the sun – a little odd I know, but most days I don’t need to even set an alarm clock anymore, the sunlight does the trick! I’ve noticed this makes me feel less groggy upon waking too. As soon as my feet hit the floor I pop to the kitchen and have a big glass of water, and then do the shower/get changed/make-up/hair routine, before sitting down to (an always non-negotiable) breakfast.
What’s the first thing you drink?
Water – either room temperature or warm. Overnight we have a tendency to become dehydrated, so refreshing with a big glass of water is wonderful for waking the body up, flushing out toxins and getting everything moving. I have a really big glass as soon as I wake up, and then will let that settle for half an hour or so before breakfast.
What’s the first thing you eat?
Breakfast is non-negotiable for me – I don’t function well if I skip it. What I eat is usually dictated by what I feel like or the temperature – my go-to options are smoothies, eggs, or porridge. I always try to include a protein source in my breakfast (e.g. protein powder, eggs, nuts and seeds), as this helps keep me feeling full into the morning.
What’s your favourite way to move your body in the morning?
Always something gentler. If the weather is nice I’ll hit the pavement for a walk or hike, or otherwise relax into a yoga session on my mat. I like starting my day slow.
How important is stillness or ‘quiet space’ first thing?
So important for me! I mainly safeguard this by not checking my phone/social media until after my morning routine. My phone used to be the first thing I checked when I woke up in the morning, but I found it became a mega time-waster and it was also driving a little anxiety – with technology we’re hit with a bombardment of over-stimulating information and colour, and it can very quickly burst any bubble of stillness. Instead I now let my mind wake up slow, have cuddles with my dog, and enjoy the quiet period before the busy day ahead.
Describe your ultimate morning. No kids, no obligations…?
A sleep-in until I naturally wake up, followed by a delicious breakfast and perfect espresso at my favourite café with family or friends.
Your favourite breakfast recipe…what’s your go-to?
1 cup liquid of choice (e.g. almond milk/dairy milk/rice milk/coconut water)
1 serving protein powder
1/2 cup berries or 1/2 banana
1 tbsp nuts (e.g. almonds/walnuts/cashews) or 1/2 tbsp nut butter
2 tsp seeds (e.g. sunflower/pumpkin seeds)
Handful of ice
1. Add all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
