Call us nosy, but we’ve always been curious about how other people spend their mornings before they arrive in the public eye, polished for their day.
We wonder, what did they eat for breakfast? Did they meditate? Did they stretch? Did they hit snooze? Did they have to only worry about themselves or a family…? So many curious questions!

At 29 years old Chelsea is the Mama of two girls aged 7 and 10, she’s the owner & pilates instructor of PilatesFIT Boutique (in Auckland) as well as being a teacher of Pilates for Nike at the NTC studio in Auckland city. Enjoy as we take a sneak peek into her morning routine…
Tell us, what does your morning look like as you roll out of bed…
Each morning varies but it generally starts with my alarm going off at 5.20am. I’m really not an early morning person so I have to get up within a few mins of waking. I always grab a banana and head down to the studio for a quick stretch before my first class starts at 6am.
Once classes have finished I get the kids ready for school, we chat and I like to joke around with them while we eat (even if they do think I’m crazy).
We walk to school everyday so I then carry on with my own walk/run and the route is decided by which direction the kids tell me to go.
Once home I do my own workout and then breakfast (if I haven’t had it earlier) and again depending on the day I will then either start private sessions or get ready to instruct a class at the NTC studio. Otherwise it’s time to respond to any emails etc, which by that time is midday and I’m wondering where the hours went…
What’s the first thing you drink?
A green tea or hot water with lemon
What’s the first thing you eat?
If I am working out or teaching a class I have a banana before. Otherwise it’s ‘Freedom loaf’ with peanut butter or my go to of eggs!
How do you most like to move your body in the morning?
I like to start with a walk or a run so I can get some fresh air – podcasts are my new best friend so they make the winter morning walks easier and then it’s Pilates and a good stretch.
How important is stillness or ‘quiet space’ first thing?
I really don’t like waking up to noise haha – that includes my mind racing. So a few mins just to lie in stillness and try to not over think the day ahead is so important.
Describe your ultimate morning…no kids, no obligations…
Oooh I LOVE it when I don’t have to wake up to an alarm which right now is very rare, so that is on the top of my list along with having a morning phone & computer free! I also love nothing more than knowing the day is free to do whatever I need to without rushing around.
Please share your favourite breakfast recipe…what’s your go-to?
Right now it would definitely have to be Poached Eggs on ‘Freedom loaf’, with Spinach and Smashed Avo with Feta.
