It’s been said time and time again that attaining a morning ritual or taking solo time before the pressures of the day begin, can truly help success, productivity and happiness. 

Call us nosy, but we’ve always been curious about how other people spend their mornings before they arrive in the public eye, polished for their day.  

We wonder, what did they eat for breakfast? Did they meditate? Did they stretch? Did they hit snooze? Did they have to only worry about themselves or a family…? So many curious questions!

This week we’re lucky enough to steal a moment with Amber Campbell, the lady behind Good Buzz Kombucha. This super star plays many roles in her day-to-day life, but always makes sure she takes her time in the morning…

Tell us, what does your morning look like as you roll out of bed… what habits or rising rituals do you have that keep you on top and in the game?

I have made the habit of waking up on my own without an alarm (unless there is somewhere urgent that I need to be). I find that I feel much more rested this way.
I generally wake up at the same time every morning (usually 7 – 7:30am). I also can’t forget my morning hug that I receive EVERY morning from my 12 year old son.
What better way to start your day than with a love blast!

Upon rising…What do you drink?

First thing in the morning I like to have a big glass of water followed by a cup of coffee. I’ll admit, I’m not a morning person no matter how early I go to bed, so coffee really does make me feel like I can kickstart my day.

What do you eat?

I’ve never been a big breakfast eater, unless breakfast is around 11am. We are out the door and off to work way before then, so a smoothie is my morning ritual. I usually change it up, but spinach, banana and garlic (yes I said garlic!) are a must in my smoothie. I feel the garlic gives me an extra immune boost for my fast paced life, but can keep your friends away. Hehe!

How do you move?

I ease into my morning. If it’s a nice day and not too cold, I’ll take my yoga mat out on the balcony from my bedroom and do some deep breathing and some sun salutations. Hearing the birds chirping is also so relaxing. I feel it really gets me focused for my work day. This is generally followed by laundry folding, lunch making and getting everyone organised and out the door.

Do you have a practice of stillness or quiet?

The first hour of being up is my quiet time. While the rest of the family is downstairs getting ready and having some breakfast, I’m enjoying the peace before the crazy. This is when my deep breathing and sun salutations take place. Usually after this I’ll go through my email while no interruptions are taking place.

Can you share your favourite go-to breakfast recipe?

Green Smoothie (with an Immunity Kick!)

Green Smoothie Detox
1 banana

1 cup of spinach

1 small sliver of garlic

1/2 cup frozen bluberries

1/2 cup coconut milk
Blend all together and enjoy!
