It’s been said time and time again that attaining a morning ritual or taking solo time before the pressures of the day begin, can truly help success, productivity and happiness.
We are fascinated about how other people spend their mornings before they arrive in the public eye, polished for their day.
We wonder, what did they eat for breakfast? Did they meditate? Did they stretch? Did they hit the snooze button? Did they only need to worry about themselves or a family? …So many questions!
Follow along as we step into the mornings of a wide range of successful ladies to uncover what habits put the spring in their morning step…

Tell us, what does your morning look like as you roll out of bed…
I would love to say I drink hot water with lemon and meditate for 20 minutes and get the right affirmations for what I’m wanting to achieve for the day… and sometimes I do go through stages likes this. But at the moment, I’m enjoying cuddles with my boyfriend and puppy, cups of tea and listening to the winter weather happening outside. Our mornings are early, beginning at 5.30am and often involve our hot tub. I am really cherishing my mornings while it’s just the two of us and having the time to wake the body up that way is such a blessing. One thing I am concentrating on is not sleeping with my phone anywhere near the bed and not checking social media before I sleep or when I wake. If that’s the last thing you see at night then that’s what your brain is marinating in for the next 6-8 hours. I don’t feel good when I look at social pages so I’m really noticing that being mindful of this is making me happier.
What’s the first thing you drink?
I have lots of water first thing in the morning! I love Lemurian Springs water with rock salt in it. Or a shot of apple cider vinegar.
What’s the first thing you eat?
I am a big fan of smoothies first thing given our digestion needs time to wake up. I like kale, cucumber, celery, frozen banana, blueberries, a greens powder and psyllium husk. I use filtered water but you can mix with coconut water for a sweeter taste.
How do you most like to move your body in the morning?
In summer I get up early and take my puppy for a walk. But lately I’m enjoying a cuppa tea with my boyfriend…the best way to wake hehe.
How important is stillness or quiet space first thing?
Stillness is so important to me. I don’t have a TV on or mindless chatter going in the background (radio) when I wake up or at any stage of the day. At the moment I am doing a lot of self-study on the subconscious mind and how it runs us 96& of the time. It’s constantly taking in and believing everything you hear and see whether you are conscious of it or not. Song lyrics, opinions, the lot. So being aware of mainstream media and its effects is important.
My meditation is concentrating on my breathing to calm my nervous system and sometimes I end up in meditation and sometimes I don’t. This frustrates some people when first starting out but it’s important to not judge the outcome. Breathing is so underrated and it really excites me how much clarity and buzz I really feel in my body when practised.
Describe your ultimate morning…no obligations…
My perfect morning is waking up with my boyfriend and puppy at the beach house in the Coromandel. The sunrises are amazing there.
