A Morning In Her Shoes – Victoria Hadlow

A morning in her shoes…

It’s been said time and time again that attaining a morning ritual or taking solo time before the pressures of the day begin, can truly help success, productivity and happiness.

Call me nosy, but i’ve always been curious about how other people spend their mornings before they arrive in the public eye polished for their day.

I wonder, how did their day start…have they eaten breakfast yet? Did they meditate? Did they already run 8km? Find out…

We will be asking a range of successful ladies from all over to find out what habits put the spring in their morning step.

This week we have the gorgeous Victoria Hadlow, one of the 5 sisters behind the blog ‘Yummy Auckland’. She is currently based in New York city,  find out more as we sneak into her mornings…

Victoria is the second eldest of the 5 sisters involved in the blog that reviews all things ‘Yummy’ in Auckland city and beyond. She is living and working in NYC right now but we’re lucky enough to get a quick peek into her morning routines…

Tell us what does your morning look like as you roll out of bed…What habits or rituals do you have that keep you on top and in the game?

Although some days you wake up knowing you’ll be flat-out busy or there’ll be something on your agenda that you’re not looking forward to, I’m very aware of the power of the mind, so try to wake up each day on the right side of the bed and think positively about the day ahead!
What helps me with this is my weekday routine of getting up early to fit in some exercise before work – I feel so much better during the day knowing I’ve had some “me” time and have done something healthy and positive for myself.

What do you drink?

2 large glasses of water.

What do you eat?

Poached eggs and spinach, or oats with berries.

How do you move?

Currently going to the gym a few times a week and doing light weights mixed with body weight and cardio (think burpees, squat jumps etc) – and walking lots! (in NYC it’s hard to avoid)

Do you have a practice of stillness or quiet?

Yes, before bed I like to reflect on 10 good things that happened in my day and write them down 🙂

Can you share your favourite go-to breakfast recipe?

A chunky grain toast topped with avocado, lime and a few chilli flakes – maybe with the addition of feta – is always a delicious option.
