A Morning In Her Shoes – Caitlin Reid

It’s been said time and time again that attaining a morning ritual or taking solo time before the pressures of the day begin, can truly help success, productivity and happiness.

Call me nosy, but i’ve always been curious about how other people spend their mornings before they arrive in the public eye polished for their day.

I wonder, how did their day start…have they eaten breakfast yet? Did they meditate? Did they already run 8km? Find out…

We will be asking a range of successful ladies from all over to find out what habits put the spring in their morning step.

This week we have the lovely Caitlin Reid behind the new wellness retreats business ‘Aprive Wellness’…

Caitlin is a physiotherapist,  pilates instructor, personal trainer, massage therapist and wellness retreat leader based in the beautiful Queenstown, NZ.

She knows the importance of a good morning…enjoy as we sneak a peek into hers.

What do you drink?

A big glass of water, or a cup of hot water in winter. Then often Rock Ohm herbal tea from Libertine Teas.

What do you eat?

I just discovered how to make chia puddings, so I either eat a chia pudding or make a spinach, banana, ice, psyllium husk, spirulina and orange smoothie, or grab a banana if I’m running late!

How do you move?

I’m more of an afternoon exercise fan, but I’ve discovered early yoga on Monday mornings is a great way to start the week.

Do you have a practice of stillness or quiet?

I try to do 10-15 mins of meditation 3 times a week, first thing in the morning. It doesn’t always happen, but I’ve found I have a happier day if I do!

I’m not great at sitting quietly, so I use guided meditations from Headspace or The Chopra Centre to help.

Can you share your favourite go-to morning breakfast recipe?

Super Easy Chia Pudding.

I’m loving the stone fruit this summer!

You’ll need:
~ 1/4 cup Chia seeds
~ 3/4 cup low-fat Coconut milk
~ Cut up Apricot or Nectarine
~ 1/2 sliced Banana
~ Pop everything into a small glass or jar and shake it all up.
I pop it in the fridge the night before and it’s ready the next day.
I love healthy but super easy recipes so this one’s my new favourite!
