A Morning In Her Shoes – Courtney Durr

It’s been said time and time again that attaining a morning ritual or taking solo time before the pressures of the day begin, can truly help success, productivity and happiness. 

Call me nosy, but i’ve always been curious about how other people spend their mornings before they arrive in the public eye polished for their day.  

I wonder, how did their day start…have they eaten breakfast yet? Did they meditate? Did they already run 8km? Find out…

We will be asking a range of successful ladies from all over to find out what habits put the spring in their morning step.

This week we have the gorgeous Courtney Durr.

Courtney is a young beauty from Wellington, who is running her own personal training (and life training!) business – Body Love Blueprint and inspiring real ladies from all over! Enjoy x

Tell us, what does your morning look like as you roll out of bed… what habits or rising rituals do you have that keep you on top and in the game?

When you run your own business – each morning, each day, is so different. I wouldn’t have it any other way though as it keeps me on my toes and allows me freedom in every day! So usually I wake up about 5:15am and I’ll either get ready to run Body Love Blueprint (my bootcamp), or I’ll get ready to do my own workout at CrossFit or at yoga.

What do you drink? 

Before I leave I will drink a big glass of water and eat a banana. This gives me the energy I need to do my workout or to run an energetic session with the girls but believe me it is not my breakfast haha!

What do you eat? 

I get home and the only thing on my mind at this point is food. Lately I’ve been making the bomb diggity brekkie which is poached eggs on crushed avocado (which is seasoned with salt and pepper and lime juice) on paleo toast. Before I eat it though I have to show the world of snapchat how amazing it is hahaha.

Do you have a practice of stillness or quiet? 

Something that I practise every day is gratitude. I have a grateful diary where I write in 5 things I’m grateful for. This is something that elevates me and puts things in perspective.

How do you move?

At the moment I have so many different forms of exercise which allows me to stay interested and keep it fun. CrossFit is always something that makes me happy as it is so varied every single time and it focuses on the concept of you against you which keeps me motivated.

The other form of exercise I’ve started doing is boxing one on one with a trainer. I would love to fight in a charity event because it’s doing something good for the community and it also scares the s*** out of me haha!

Can you share your favourite go-to morning workout?

Don’t have a gym? Want something that will get the blood pumping and actually be effective? Tabatas are where it’s at!!
They are 4 minutes of work 20 seconds on 10 seconds rest for 8 rounds.
As many Burpees as possible in 20 seconds, rest 10 seconds. Repeat for 8 rounds.
Rest one minute.
As many Squats as possible in 20 seconds, rest 10 seconds. Repeat for 8 rounds.
Rest one minute.
As many Push Ups as possible in 20 seconds, rest 10 seconds. Repeat for 8 rounds.
Rest one minute.
As many Sit Ups as possible in 20 seconds, rest 10 seconds. Repeat for 8 rounds.
Rest one minute.
Boom, gains city!!
