A Morning In Her Shoes – Victoria Nunns

It’s been said time and time again that attaining a morning ritual or taking solo time before the pressures of the day begin, can truly help success, productivity and happiness. 

Call me nosy, but i’ve always been curious about how other people spend their mornings before they arrive in the public eye polished for their day.  

I wonder, how did their day start…have they eaten breakfast yet? Did they meditate? Did they already run 8km? Find out…

We will be asking a range of successful ladies from all over to find out what habits put the spring in their morning step.

This week we have the gorgeous Victoria, the lady of Victoria Nunns Beauty…

Tell us, what does your morning look like as you roll out of bed… what habits or rising rituals do you have that keep you on top and in the game?

Mornings are usually a struggle to get up (because my boyfriend and I have probably been up late watching tv series) so this can vary.

Sometimes I have to be up super early for makeup bookings, other times if the day is really busy I will try and get to Crossfit before the madness begins.

I am usually the first one up out of us two, badgering him to get up and at ’em!

I almost always snooze for half an hour (strategically timed alarms) and then I HAVE to get some sort of food in me before I am operational!

What do you drink?

A morning cup of tea is a must for me. At the moment I have been loving my Aphroditea loose leaf tea which comes in a variety of types and I alternate between their Boost Me tea (contains caffeine to get me going) or their Good Morning Skinny tea which prevents bloating and is good for clear skin.

I will also make up a protein and good fats smoothie (always chocolate) and of course I try to drink lots of water!

I cannot stand the taste of coffee!

What do you eat?

I try to eat oats most days so that I can enjoy ‘treat breakfasts’ on the weekend.

At the moment I really love the new Vogels Cafe-style Super Oats in the flavour ‘Wholemeal oats, Chia seeds and Coconut’, so coconut-ty and yummy! I usually add a mix of frozen berries on top and mix them in with some cinnamon.

On the weekends I enjoy bacon & eggs with avocado and sometimes toast!

How do you move?

At the moment, I do Crossfit here in Queenstown. I really have enjoyed the different style of training and the formats of the Crossfit classes. I have learnt so much and definitely become stronger in the last few months.

I also enjoy circuit style training with my awesome trainer Dan when I’m in Wellington, face paced and never a session quite the same as another! I prefer to train in groups (or with my boyfriend Saimon) as I find it hard to motivate myself on my own.

Do you have a practice of stillness or quiet?

No, not currently. This is something I would love and need to add into my routine! Everything is always go go go!

Can you share you favourite go-to morning breakfast recipe?

My Favourite Protein Smoothie is simple….
~ 1 scoop of chocolate protein (usually plant based such as Nutra Organics Clean Protein)
~ 1 tablespoon of peanut butter
~ 1 teaspoon of coconut oil
~ 2 two scoops of my ‘Adashiko’ collagen powder
~ A few ice cubes and 1 cup cold water
~ Blend until smooth.
Chocolate and peanut butter smoothie, YUM!
