We’re obsessed with hearing about what other people eat all day everyday and we just know that you’re all as curious as we are! There’s something so intriguing about knowing the secrets of a healthy foodie. Follow along with this series where we find out what a wide range of successful health-loving ladies eat in a day.

Christine has a background in marketing and design and is co-owner of
Something To Crow About with her husband Mike Millar. Something To Crow About handcraft a range of premium mueslis and roasted seed toppers for sale in supermarkets throughout NZ. From an idyllic base at Whangaparaoa just north of Auckland, she has a hands-on roll in the day to day running of the business, is mum to two teenage daughters and enjoys keeping fit, movies, food and travel.

Your go-to brekkie is…

Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day, I cannot imagine skipping it. I usually eat a bowl of muesli most mornings, as we have a pantry full at home to choose from, topping it with yogurt and seasonal fruit. My current fav is our Supreme Trio of Nuts & Berries Probiotic Muesli. We recently tweaked the recipe adding more raspberries and less honey and as a result the mix gets a nice toasted crunch with a tang of raspberry coming through.

Your go-to lunch is…

I try to bring leftovers from last nights dinner to work with me. But if that’s
not possible my go to is salmon avocado sushi. We are spoilt for choice near work with two sushi places just across the road. My kids love sushi too, so I often bring it home for an after school snack, it’s an expensive addiction. I’ve tried making sushi at home, but it never tastes quite the same.

Your go-to dinner is…

Spaghetti and Meatballs. I have a fantastic recipe in a Jamie Oliver cook
book, where everything is made from scratch and it’s full of flavour. It’s a family favourite with my youngest loving to help roll the meatballs.

Dessert or no dessert…

As a child dessert was a definite yes with my mum serving some type of
dessert most evenings. As a mum I haven’t really continued that tradition partly due to laziness and party knowing I already have too much sugar in my diet. So I don’t eat or make dessert very often, but when I do, I love a sticky date pudding or apple pie with cream.

What you reach for when a snack attack hits…

Vogels toast, topped with smashed avocado, cheese and Tamari Roasted Seeds Sprinkles. Although the price of avocados recently has made me transition to tomatoes with cream cheese.

Your fave foodie destination…

Vietnam is my current obsession. I have just got back from two weeks in Vietnam and fell in love with the food. We travelled from Hanoi in the north to Ho Chi Minh in the south and tried lots of different dishes along the way. What stood out was the use of so many types of vegetables and fresh herbs to add flavour. The most memorable food experience, was attending a cooking class in a little village near Hoi An and learning to make spring rolls, using spring onions as the wrap and then a crispy rice pancake. If you are gluten free this is the perfect destination for you.

Three foods you can’t live without…

Muesli, fresh summer fruit, does coffee count as food?

Your ultimate foodie indulgence…

Nothing too tricky. I love a good brie cheese on an oat cracker, smeared with chutney and matched with a Pinot Gris.

The recipe that’ll always get you drooling is…

Lemon Curd and Raspberry Brioche
